When most people think about Special Operation Warriors they think of them as being both physically and mentally strong, physically fit, tactically sound, and even unbreakable. But even these warriors have a breaking point. One can only mentally endure so much violence, even if you are the one executing that violence before it effects your mental wellness. Tom openly shares his battle with PTS and how it effected his loved ones and friends around him. I applaud him for being courageous for doing so.His saving grace was an angel by the name of Jen, who eventually became his rock and his bride. If it weren’t for her timely text message to Tom, I wouldn’t be writing this review. Jen has also become an angel and rock for other warriors suffering from PTS by listening to them share their nightmares, struggles with drugs, alcohol and how it’s destroying their marriages. Often shedding tears herself as she listened.This book is filled with action as Tom shares his combat experiences in the Battle of Mogadishu and other combat experiences. But most importantly it shines the light on the battles that these warriors face on the home front after returning from deployments. A number of them end up committing suicide because they see no other way out and that should never be an option.Thanks to Tom and Jen they started the nonprofit organization called the ALL SECURE FOUNDATION that helps these warriors get the help they need for healing.Today is Veterans Day and this book would be a great gift for any veteran that you may know. I also encourage you to reach out to any veterans that you may know that is struggling with PTS, drugs, alcohol or any other issues that may push them to do the unthinkable.Just two days ago I learned that one of my close friends took his own life in June. He struggled with drug addiction on and off for years. When I checked his FB page to see what he was up to and to see about getting together I saw that four people had posted RIP on his wall. I was immediately filled with guilt because I didn’t reach out sooner. Please don’t let that be you.I leave you with this quote that is spot on for those struggling with PTS.“Our brains are wired for connection, but trauma rewires them for protection.
